The life cycle of the European Chafer Beetle Grub.  The two most practical treatments are biological control and over planting.  Biological control is most effective just after the eggs of the beetle hatch (late June to early August) and involves the application of a nematode which feeds on the larvae.  Over planting involves a partial to complete replacement of the affected turf with other plants which are not a food source of the beetle.
